The Bridge is a leading independent alternative provision school dedicated to providing tailored education and support to students. We are based in the centre of Wiltshire, but our clients are based across the South West.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SAS (Support and Assessment Service) Mentor to join our team in providing exceptional inreach and outreach services to our students and young adults, aged 5 to 25. As a SAS Mentor, you will play a crucial role in assisting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. These challenges could include learning difficulties, trauma, mental health problems, or a lack of confidence.
Your role, as SAS Mentor, is critical for fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for our students, by providing a service that specialises in one-to-one support, ensuring community integration and preparing pupils for working life, by enabling them to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. You will be working within a specific region of the south west on an outreach basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement personalised behaviour management plans to address individual needs.
- Build strong rapport and trust with pupils, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and support during challenging situations.
- Collaborate with homeschools, parents, and other professionals to ensure consistent and holistic support.
- Monitor pupil progress, assessing effectiveness of interventions, and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Promote social-emotional development and foster positive relationships within the school community.
- Work within a school to provide specific programmes or to work 1:1 with a specific child.
- Work outreach with a student that isn’t ready to enter a school/classroom environment.
- Provide effective mentoring and targeted interventions for our most vulnerable students, for a variety of issues
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience working with children and young adults
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening.
- Empathy and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to motivate learners.
- Skills in persuading, negotiating, and influencing.
- Excellent general ICT skills.
- A commitment to equality and diversity.
- An understanding of confidentiality and the handling of sensitive information.
- Knowledge of, and a commitment to, safeguarding in schools.
- A full clean UK driving licence.

Hours working with students: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 3.00pm (4.00pm finish on Tuesday)
**Salary**: £21,300 to £27,954 (dependent on experience)
**Job Types**: Full-time or Part-time (12 hours +), Fixed Term Contract for 12 months
