Procurement Officer

You will understand the procurement process from order requisition through to seeking quotations, placing purchase orders, monitoring and ensuring on-time deliveries, goods receipt and managing supplier invoices.
You will have an excellent eye for detail, and posses strong day-to-day organisational skills. It is imperative that your colleagues are immediately and clearly able to assess the status of any item for which a requisition has been issued with the minimum of effort and, in the event you are unavailable (be that through planned leave or sickness), manage the situation accordingly.
- Work closely across the manufacturing team to ensure materials are sourced in line with specifications.
- Prepare enquiries based on Bill of Materials (BOM) and/or technical drawings and distribute these to approved suppliers.
- Work with suppliers ensuring necessary requirements on price, lead time and quality are met.
- Communicate lead times and price changes to Production Manager ensuring he is up to date with supply issues at all times.
- Negotiate POs and implement cost saving initiatives where possible.
- Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with your colleagues as well as our supplier base.
- Seek out suitable new or alternative suppliers where appropriate.
- Support Supplier compliance by liaising with the Quality Manager to evaluate & monitor suppliers.
- Ensure costings and BOMs are kept accurate and current.
- Manage our stock control.
The Successful Applicant will have:
- Previous experience of working within a purchasing role is essential, ideally in a small to medium sized engineering or manufacturing company.
- Good experience of working directly from a BOM list.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications is a big advantage.
- Experience of cost analysis work and budget management.
- Experience of using MRP systems for raising orders and supplier management is desirable.
- competence in using MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
Full training will be given, potentially including support for you to gain CIPS qualifications.
**Salary**: £26,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
