**More about the role and** **the** **responsibilities**
What will you achieve in the next 12 months?
- Working with five individuals within our residential service, Ava House located in Maryport, you will support them to build on their current skills whilst developing new ones, supporting their independence in a risk manged way that promotes person centred practice in a supported living environment.
- Offer emotional support and reassurance, especially during difficult times, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
- Be able to build new and exciting activities for our clients, looking for ways to make every single day an adventure in the home and in the community.
- Ensuring that all support plans are adhered to especially PBS (Positive Behaviour Support plans). Advocating on the individual’s behalf so that changes can be implemented to meet identified needs.
- Support and prompts with personal care and medication support, always promoting dignity and respect in line with standard processes.
- Recording events daily in order for outcomes to be supervised and assessed.
- Have an active input in reviews and support planning to meet identified needs.
- Be confident when supporting individuals with complex needs and any behaviours that may challenge, following PBS support plans and any behaviour plans so that situations can deescalate before reaching crisis point.
**Key requirements and qualifications for the role**:
This role requires previous experience supporting individuals with a learning disability, autism and other additional support needs. Although full training during induction will be provided as well as enrolment on to a Level 2 qualification to further enhance your skill set. Previous care experience is also welcomed for those looking to change direction.
Qualifications for the role include:
- Level 2 Understanding Learning disabilities_
- Level 2 Autism awareness_
- Level 2 Medication Support_
In addition to the qualifications above you will also be required to complete in house training annually along with practical workshops to keep your knowledge and skills up to date with changing regulations and standards.
The company continually assess training and qualifications in order to ensure quality and compliance with regulatory bodies. As such this will be addressed on a 1:1 basis to support you with any goals and targets that you set.
You will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check. Along with two satisfactory references to determine your suitability.
