This is a critical role in enabling Heads On to achieve its goals - through drawing in supporters, developing them into donors and communicating the organisation’s work to build relationships and future support. It is an important link between Heads On and our local community and one of the first points of contact for Heads On, both internally and externally.

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager you will work across all fundraising income streams to raise our profile and build and develop a supporter base for Heads On with a particular focus onCommunity and Individuals fundraising.

This is a highly rewarding position for a creative and dynamic individual to make a genuine difference to the support available for people with mental health problems.

Working within the charity team to create, implement and monitor fundraising action plans to secure donations to Heads On from the following:

- Community Fundraising
- Corporates
- Individual Giving
- Legacy Giving
- Major Gifts
- Trusts, Foundations & Grant Funders

To ensure that Heads On’s annual fundraising targets are met or exceeded.

Heads On is Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s charity. We do everything we can to make things better for the people who come to Sussex Partnership for help.

Thanks to our supporters, we are able to fund special projects, patient and family support, pioneering research and the transformation of your local mental health hospitals into more comfortable and welcoming environments. Our website has case studies and examples of the kinds of projects we support.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health care and learning disability services across Sussex, specialist children’s mental health services in Sussex and Hampshire and dementia services across Sussex.

The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed the role of NHS charities, shining a spotlight on the work we do to enhance NHS care. At the same time; we have never been more needed and want to do our very best to support our local communities’ mental health.

This is a unique time to join Heads On, as we build on our strong foundations to make a real difference in how people’s mental health is supported

**Responsibilities will include but will not be restricted to**:
Community & Corporate Fundraising
- To cultivate relationships with a range of community based groups, including faith groups and schools, to encourage greater involvement with Heads On.
- To manage relationships with hospital Leagues of Friends charities across Sussex, including liaising with clinical services and submitting funding requests on their behalf.
- To initiate and develop relationships with local charitable groups e.g. Rotary, Round Table, Lions, WI etc. with the aim of securing long term financial and “in kind” support.
- Give talks and make presentations to a wide range of local organisations e.g. Rotary, WI, schools, aimed at increasing support for the Charity, ensuring that they are appropriate for the audience. It is expected that talks will take place digitally in the short term due to Covid restrictions.
- To lead, promote and co-ordinate local community fundraising events and activities, such as Walk for Wards (in accordance with Covid restrictions) and predominantly digitally in the short term, ensuring that they are well planned, marketed and supported and that sponsorship funds are processed effectively.
- To initiate and develop relationships with local businesses with the aim of securing long term financial and “in kind” support.
- To undertake effective monitoring of the local charity environment and have a visible presence within the community
- Nurture relationships with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust staff to encourage creation of, and participation in, fundraising activities and events, lifting the profile of the Charity internally.
- Support the Head of Charity in delivering suitable projects to a range of community audiences and in boosting the Charity’s profile.
- To develop, manage and support local appeal groups or committees.
- To manage and motivate volunteer fundraisers and support them in their fundraising efforts.

Individual Giving
- With the Fundraising Manager, develop, implement and monitor a set of donor acquisition mechanisms to encourage the development of unrestricted individual giving to Heads On.

Legacy Giving
- Working with the Fundraising Manager, develop and implement the Charity’s Legacy Giving strategy to encourage future support for the charity.

Trusts & Foundations
- Deputise for the Fundraising Manager, as appropriate:

- Research and identify appropriate charitable trusts and foundations to approach for funding.
- Working closely with clinical staff, prepare and submit accurate and attractive proposals, to charitable trusts, foundations and other grant making bodies
