Modern Paper is a Tissue Paper Converting & Manufacturing company based in South East London. We serve the consumer market with toilet rolls and kitchen towels via cash-and-carry outlets and other retailers.

The team at Modern Paper brings decades of international experience in the professional hygiene and tissue paper conversion business.

Our state-of-the-art, fully equipped hub is centrally located to the East of London. This 4.5-acre facility is equipped with two brand new converting lines which are capable of producing 20k tonnes of paper product per annum.

**Job description**

**The Role**

The Forklift Operator will be responsible to move goods, load pallets and safely stack and unstack large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets with keeping up to date on health and safety requirements and forklift operating procedures. The holder of this role will report directly to the Production Supervisor and Production Manager.

**Main Responsibilities**:
As a Forklift Operator you will be working in a production area and your duties will be as followed:

- Move goods, load pallets and equipment safely and securely
- Manoeuvre forklifts safely in busy industrial environments
- Safely stack and unstack large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets
- Move goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport
- Unloade deliveries and safely relocate the goods to their designated storage areas
- Ensure that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions
- Check forklift equipment for faults or damages regularly
- Use industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport
- Keep up to date on health and safety requirements and forklift operating procedures
- Consolidate partial pallets for incoming goods
- Ensure that all goods that are loaded or unloaded match the relevant paperwork
- Take responsibility for a company’s freight and assets by reporting any suspicious activity at work
- Store and rotate stock according to established procedures
- Report any damaged or missing goods to Warehouse Managers or Supervisors
- Keep the warehouse environment clean and tidy and maintain equipment
- Follow workplace health and safety rules when handling goods
- Ensure efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, rules, and schedules
- Assist with warehouse inventory controls, which typically involves using a hand-held scanner
- Treat merchandise with care and concern

**About you**:
As a Forklift Operator you will have the following skills and experience:

- the UK Accredited forklift operating license from an industry-recognized body
- Ability to work well in a team with other staff, such as Lorry Drivers or Warehouse Packers, to coordinate the movement of goods
- Physical strength, fitness, and dexterity, as they often have to lift heavy packages or work at elevated heights
- Ability to work long shifts in cramped, loud, and potentially hazardous industrial environments
- Ability to work well in a team with other staff, such as Lorry Drivers or Warehouse Packers, to coordinate the movement of goods
- Knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements
- Knowledge of industrial storage procedures, such as the correct way to stack pallets on top of one another
- Able to work 5 days a week - Monday to Saturday, up to 9 hours per shift (1-hour unpaid break incl)
- You will be able to travel to DA8 2AT, Erith
