Project & Research Coordinator

**Role**
Geothermal Engineering Ltd (GEL) is a small but growing team pioneering geothermal power development in the UK. We are looking for a full-time, permanent Project & Research Coordinator with a strong geoscience background, experience of managing academic research projects and interest in creating subsurface models. The role will be mostly based at the United Downs Geothermal site near Redruth, but the successful applicant must be willing to travel across the UK and abroad for project meetings.
**Responsibilities**
- Work within international consortiums to further GEL’s research interests and provide input to key project deliverables. Past and current projects include MEET, S4CE, OptiDrill, CRM-Geothermaland others.
- Undertake subsurface modelling of geothermal reservoirs and the surrounding areas, including the creation of hydrogeological and heat flow models, as well as 3D visualisations for engaging the community.
- Liaise with research contacts to identify potential future research programmes, keeping track of relevant upcoming grant calls from the major funding bodies.
- Help build consortiums and actively write proposals for relevant research grants.
- Liaise with GEL staff to ensure smooth interaction between research projects and on-site operations.
- Work with the GEL community engagement team to organise and implement relevant engagement programmes.
- Lead research activities and outputs to drive forward geothermal heat and power projects in the UK and beyond.
- Lead on company submissions to academic journals and conference proceedings.
- Assist with other areas of the business, as required.
**Requirements**:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience of Leapfrog, FEFLOW or other similar modelling programs would be an advantage.
- Passion for geothermal energy and the renewable sector. Knowledge and experience of geothermal geology would be beneficial.
Location: The role will primarily be based at the GEL office on the United Downs Industrial Estate near Redruth, Cornwall.
Hours: 37.5-hour week with flexible working opportunities
Annual leave: 22 days plus bank holidays and annual increase
