We are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join our team
**Job Title**: Purchasing Assistant
**Reporting To**: Materials Management Team Leader
**Purpose of Role**:
Administration duties maintaining our System software and its database, also co-ordination and support of processes / activities relating to materials management.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Creation and maintenance of all system database records and processes within the businesses ERP system (Avante)
- Maintenance of key system/component parameters which support other key areas of the business including, Finance, Development, Manufacturing, Materials Management, Logistics, Purchasing, and Customer Care.
- Capture, creation, and maintenance of component digital images, and any subcomponent bill of material (parent child relationships). in order to support our retail web-based customer care systems.
- Compilation, input, control, and maintenance of parent and component product costs, ensuring that the system costing and purchasing price databases are accurately maintained.
- Batch & Material work order control activities, including batch progress monitoring, maintenance of work orders, Inventory & cost variance transactions.
- Request, process & maintenance, of vendor component prices and other related supplier component information.
- Labour routing cost control, involving attending meetings and producing standard labour routings.
- Maintenance of component aftermarket selling prices.
- Co-ordination of customer requirements and associated documentation (Configs, MRP purchasing reports, picking documentation, Kanban signals etc).
- Support and administration of inventory control activities and variance investigations.
- Liaison with Key Operatives, Purchasing Manager and Cost accountant regarding purchase price variances.
- Work within and provide cover for the team during periods of absence i.e. Training, Vendor visits, Meetings, Projects etc.
- Capture of statistical data to produce key performance indicator information.
- Generation and maintenance of departmental process related standard operation procedures in pre-defined business format.
- Participation in 5S, and other continuous improvement initiative
- Any other reasonable duties as required
**Person Specification - Purchasing Assistant**
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- 5 GCSE’s Grade A-C/4-9 including Maths and English or equivalent
- **Desirable -** L3 in Business Administration or equivalent
- **Desirable -** L2 in Business Improvement Techniques or equivalent
**KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE**
- Experience of working with IT software and systems (e.g. Word)
- **Desirable -** Experience of working in busy office environment
- **Desirable -** Experience of working under high pressure
**SKILLS**
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Adaptable and responsive to change
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to work on own initiative but also in a team
