Telephone Triage Midwife

Oldham, United Kingdom Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust Full time

A fantastic opportunity has become available within our friendly and supportive, Maternity Triage Team for a Telephone Triage Midwife. We’re looking for positive, compassionate midwives who are committed to providing high quality direct clinical care to women and birthing people.
In return, we can offer you a career with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including, a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and well-being activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.
As a Telephone Triage Midwife, you will primarily be answering the telephone within maternity triage, providing women, birthing people and their families with advice, undertaking risk assessments and referring them to other areas as appropriate. This will be undertaken using your expert clinical midwifery knowledge in collaboration with the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System algorithm (BSOTS).
You will also be expected to support the wider maternity triage team by completing some clinical duties to support patient flow and compliance with BSOTS.
Whilst this role will involve many core duties, the scale of the NCA means there will also be opportunities to rotate to other clinical areas to maintain, expand and develop both your clinical skills and confidence within the role.
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford, to save and improve lives.
As a large NHS trust we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and working closely with local authorities and key partners. We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we’re always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate and inspire - to join our team.
This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
**Please note**: previous applicants need not apply.
