Tutor / Assessor of Hairdressing & Barbering

**Job Purpose**:
Manage, assess and train a caseload of learners based in North West England, through an Apprenticeship or Training programmes ensuring they are supported throughout.
(Applicants will be required to travel to various areas in North West England and our office is based at 4 Paddock Road, WN8 9PL.)
**KEY TASKS**
To assess learners’ progress and maintain records of assessments of learning carried out.
- Maintain accurate records of learner assessments and achievements
- Accredit successful completion of learner tasks including work-based activities in line with the company’s assessment and verification policy, completing all related administrative activities.
- Deliver workshops, one to one instruction and/or training sessions relating to knowledge and skills development.
- Maintain efficient record keeping and tracking systems using the systems provided and stipulated by 1st2 Achieve and report agreed targets in a timely manner against agreed deadlines. This to include withdrawals; transfers; assessment and examination results; updating of information held in academy information system to enable the tracking of learner progress on a real time basis.
- Conduct assessment, evaluation and progress reviews as appropriate. Provide regular and purposeful reports to employers, apprentices, learners and the academy so that there is a clear plan of action which is time bound for each learner and which allows completion with agreed target dates.
To ensure that individual students’ learning needs are met through the provision of:
- Learning Support i.e., Literacy, Numeracy, Language and ICT.
- Learner Support
To attend appropriate meetings:
- Centre meetings; IQA and EQA meetings; department and management meetings (where appropriate) and staff development activities.
- 1st2 Achieve open evenings as required
Safeguarding responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with 1st2 Achieve policy
Health and Safety responsibilities:
- To observe and keep aware of health and safety documentation and procedures in line with 1st2 Achieve policy.
**Professional Conduct**:
- Start sessions on time
- Give good notice of any absence and in accordance with 1st2 Achieves absence management procedure
- Participate in on-going staff development and training opportunities as far as possible
- Participate in the Performance Appraisal System
- Keep accurate and up to date registers
- Adhere to general standards of conduct embodied in policies and procedures (e.g., health and safety, equality and diversity etc.)
- Be involved in the 1st2 Achieves quality assurance arrangements (induction, lesson observation, appraisal and gathering/analysing feedback from your learners with a view to implementing continual improvement to your course on an on-going/annual basis.)
- Participate in a customer centred approach to service delivery
- Be involved in any inspection of the academy by the OFSTED
- To work flexibly and efficiently, to maintain the highest professional standards and to promote and implement the policies of 1st2 Achieve Training Ltd and make the most efficient and effective use of academy resources
- It is expected that the appointee will develop and regularly update Individual Learning Plans (ILP’s) for each learner. Incorporate the findings of the initial assessment and initial skills for Life/Learning support as needed, differentiating the learning programme considering that assessment.
- Liaise with the Operational and Quality Manager for Hairdressing and Barbering, internal verifiers, external verifiers and awarding bodies.
- Assist in the production of reports, statistics, statements, statutory returns and other documentation as required by the Operational and Quality Manager for Hairdressing and Barbering, Government Departments and other external agencies.
- Work to range of performance indicators relevant to the services provided by the Department to ensure continuous quality improvement. Assist with the implementation of plans and systems as specified within the Continuous Improvement Strategy.
- Be conversant with, and operate, all appropriate information technology resources available, and to keep abreast, of developments in this area
- To undertake other additional duties, consistent with the role as may be deemed appropriate by your Operational and Quality Manager for Hairdressing and Barbering.
**SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE**
- Hold A1 Certificate in Assessing / TAQA / CAVA/ or qualification equivalent to within the curriculum area.
- High attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- Planning and excellent time management due to working to tight deadlines
- Proven ability to multitask at all time due to high volume workload
- Ability to communicate with business partners at all levels
- Ability to build relationships very quickly for the benefit of present and future business
