**The Organisation**:
Rossie is a registered charity, located close to Montrose. We are a multidisciplinary organisation with a high local, regional and national profile. We provide education, care, health and specialist psychological services to the most vulnerable young people across Scotland and the UK. All of our young people are assessed as having additional support needs (ASN) linked to trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Our young people are placed in our care via the Children Hearing Panels or Courts. We are actively involved with the Scottish Government and Promise Scotland in delivering all policy changes for young people. We enthusiastically engage with national and international research and are working in partnership with the Education Scotland curriculum design team.

**The Role**:
A very exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to be part of the Senior Leadership and Management Team (SLMT) as the Head of Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning.

As CEO, I am looking for a senior leader who is ambitious, resilient, corporate and committed to cross-sectoral working. The successful post-holder is required to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior or middle management role. You will report directly to the DCEO and will be responsible for the development and delivery of high quality learning and teaching which meets the needs of our young people, across both the broad general and senior phases of Scottish Education. Additionally, the post holder will have the responsibility for continuity of learning with respect to the English and Welsh based curriculum. You will identify and lead on the implementation of appropriate assessment tools, moderation and quality assurance measures. You will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of local and national objectives in both our residential and secure care schools. As the senior education manager, you will be the lead responsible person on all aspects of our HMIe Inspections and be the key point of contact with our Link Inspector. You will engage in local, regional and national fora, representing the organisation to the highest standards at all times

As an experienced dynamic leader, you will empower and develop your team, and improve the life chances of our young people through GIRFEC, the Curriculum for Excellence and a Parental Involvement Strategy. You will be the key decision maker in how the curriculum is designed and delivered in both schools. A key area of development is the enhancement of our vocational and work based skills for young people to improve their next destination outcomes.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Head of Education, Skills and Life Long Learning is a member of the Senior Leadership and Management Team (SLMT) and is central to achieving our organisational vision and mission. This post has both an inward and outward focus, ensuring effective delivery of educational and vocational requirements within our secure and residential schools. Service delivery must be in line with all national requirements, inclusive of high quality assessments, teaching and learning. The post-holder will be responsible for the highest standards of delivery within the department, the School Improvement and Business Plans. Our organisation is multi-disciplinary and the post-holder must work collaboratively, in line with our values. The post holder will be required to provide inspirational and effective leadership and management to their staff, operate within financial regulations/budgetary requirements and manage all resources effectively.

**Assist the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in developing and delivering the strategic direction, policies and procedures related to the Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning function within all regulatory frameworks and organisational values**:

- Assist and advise the CEO in the development of relevant strategies, services, and policies for all Education functions
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of curricular programmes, educational, attainment and vocational opportunities
- Support the Principal Teachers in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education assessment activity, and individualised learning plans
