Head Baker

We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Head Baker to oversee our bakery operations at Shalom, a 37 year old bakery known for its incredible bagels, breads and sweet baked goods.

As the Head Baker, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our bakery operations, ensuring the highest standards of product quality, team performance and organisation. This is a Full-Time position with competitive compensation and benefits.

**Responsibilities**:

- Spend time on the table creating top quality products
- Maintain and monitor product quality standards, ensuring adherence to recipes, portioning, and presentation guidelines
- Oversee all bakery operations, including production lists and management, staff management, inventory control and working schedules.
- Lead and motivate the bakery team to achieve excellence in product quality and organisation
- Plan and schedule production to ensure timely and efficient production of bakery items, such as bagels, challahs, breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods
- Train and mentor bakery team members, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations
- Manage schedules, labour costs, and payroll to optimise staffing levels and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and licensing requirements
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency in bakery operations

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in bakery management, with a strong understanding of bakery production processes, techniques, and equipment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire bakery team members
- Excellent knowledge of bakery products, including breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods, as well as food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to train and mentor bakery team members, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
