Delivery Manager JD
Opportunity snapshot:
This is a key leadership role within the delivery space. The role will engage closely with the Delivery Managers and the Release Management team across Australia/UK/India to enable ongoing software delivery to our clients.
Direct reports:
Project Managers/Scrum Masters/Production Support Manager
Key accountabilities:
- Overall accountability for delivery across the cross functional teams.
- Accountable for overseeing the Production Support function; managing stakeholder expectations and overseeing work allocation across the production support team.
- Collaborate with the wider program team for demand and capacity planning
- Actively engage with Project Managers to manage external dependencies, risks and issues and other Delivery Managers for internal dependencies, risks and issues. Ensure timely escalations.
- Accountable for work allocation across Delivery Teams
- Responsible for managing P1 service alerts and managing regular internal and external updates.
- Partner with IT teams to resolve technical issues relating to core services.
- Accountable for maintaining the cross-team capacity planner
- Accountable for software quality and adherence to release milestones
- Accountable for ensuring releases are packaged and of appropriate quality; including branch locks, release package (team city & octopus deploy) and release notes
- Accountable for maintenance of Jira tasks; recording and reporting including appropriate status updates.
- Responsible for defect triage allocation
- Responsible for actively managing resource allocation and team structures, working with other Delivery Managers to ensure optimal delivery.
- Responsible for tracking, monitoring and reporting on allocated work and budgets to the Sr Management group.
- Responsible for ensuring team forecasts and allocation reporting is kept up to date with PMO and actively monitor project actuals
- Responsible for actively coaching and supporting the Scrum Masters on process and delivery, including setting objectives for team growth and development.
- Engage with the Development and Testing Manager on key development practices and process.
- Actively contribute to and monitor team motivation and engagement to ensure mínimal attrition.
- Support location based recruitment activities.
- Performance management of direct reports with ongoing feedback and 1-1 catch-ups.
Education and qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (mandatory)
- Relevant certifications in project management i.e.: Prince2 or PMP (mandatory)
- Agile certification (desirable)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Has comprehensive knowledge of Programme and Project management with a broad understanding of the financial services industry. Has managed large programs of work across global geographies.
- Is able to make sound and far reaching decisions on major issues and to take full responsibility for them on a technical or managerial basis.
- Has a comprehensive knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile development life cycles.
- Understands the interdependencies of business processes and information systems and demonstrates ability to see the bigger picture.
