An opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and innovative Dietitian with an interest and/or experience of working within specialist mental health eating disorder services.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and someone who wants to make a difference to our service users, families and the communities we serve.
The role involves working within a multi-professional team and alongside other dietetic colleagues to provide a highly specialist dietetic service to adult out-patients and in-patients receiving treatment from the Eating Disorder Team and forming a key element of the treatment care pathways.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of verbal and non verbal communication skills. A degree of flexibility in approach is required along with a willingness to learn whilst working in a clinical area of specialism that can bring its challenges.

You will be based in Stafford and may be required to travel to deliver clinics in other localities.
Providing a highly specialist dietetic service to adult out-patients, in-patients and day treatment services receiving treatment from MPFT Eating Disorder Team and forming a key element of clinical care pathways.
To be an integral part of the multidisciplinary eating disorders team and be an expert in the provision of nutritional advice, education and training to nursing staff, doctors, dietetic students and other health care professionals.
To be responsible for the development of junior members of the dietetic team and support the development of the dietetic service delivery within the Eating Disorder Services.

Professional / Clinical Practice
- To complete a comprehensive assessment of service user needs (including cultural, religion, family and environmental influences, eg shift patterns), ability/skill, motivation and nutritional intake to provide a nutritional diagnosis (interpretation of biochemistry, medical history, anthropometric measurements, medication, diet history and nutritional intake).
- To agree in collaboration with the service users an overall aim of dietetic intervention and specific goals/areas for change.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner without the direct/immediate support of colleagues. In more complex cases, there will be increased use of investigative and analytical skills to identify the most appropriate intervention (sometimes from a range of options). Where appropriate seeking advice, supervision and clinical guidance from the Band 7 dietitian and wider MDT.
- To use a range of dietetic assessments tools, eg anthropometric measurements, growth biochemical data, specialised nutritional calculations (eg artificially fed patients etc), computer packages, eg nutritional analysis (including data input and interpretation or results), questionnaires, observations, discussion groups etc.
- To plan, advise (often spontaneously) and support delivery of the dietetic intervention, including gaining valid informed consent. This may involve use of clinical reasoning, education, collaboration and counselling skills, motivational interviewing and behaviour modification techniques, calculation of nutritional requirements and recommending prescriptions of ACBS products.
- To provide on going review, to evaluate and to modify as appropriate the dietetic intervention, taking account of changes in needs, knowledge, pathological processes, growth, medication and biochemistry etc.
