If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join Newport City Councils residential service. Oaklands is a childrens short break home run by Newport City Council. Oaklands works in partnership with families and caregivers of individuals with additional needs. We offer support by providing short breaks that can support and strengthen families while offering individuals experiencing additional needs meaningful lives within the community.

The home is supported by the Intensive Positive Behavior Support (iPBS) Team employed by ABUHB The intensive positive behaviour support (iPBS) team combine psychologically informed support to families and support systems within an attachment informed PBS framework, alongside intensive therapeutic input to young people with a learning disability who are at risk of family breakdown, building fundamental skills needed to enjoy a good quality of life and be part of their local community.

We are looking for highly motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team, to share our teams belief that young people can grow and develop if they are nurtured and cared for. At Oaklands we pride ourselves on being a caring and knowledgeable team, who nurture young people by providing the right care which meets the individual needs of each young person. We encourage young people to develop their independence and communication. We strive to provide an inclusive environment where young people can have fun and enjoyment from their stays.

The team are specialist trained to meet the needs of young people. If you think you have the right values and want to make a difference, then this opportunity is for you. Experience of working with children would be preferable but we also recognise that individuals come with a wide range of experiences and transferable skills and so it is not essential. We offer an excellent induction and training package, including supporting you to attain a level 3 qualification in working with Children and Young people

The current vacancies are part time positions, one 30 hour, one 20.5 hour and one 16.5-hour contracts. The shifts vary from 7-10am and 2-10 in the week, the 20.5-hour contract includes of 7-3 and 2-10 shifts every other weekend and the 30 hour and 16.5hr contract includes 15hrs shift every other weekend
