Job Introduction
An opportunity is available for a Telecoms Operator based in the South Wales National Grid Telecoms team, ideally to be based in one of the following locations but other locations within the South Wales distribution area will be considered.
- Swansea, Cardiff or Church Village, Pontypridd

Main Responsibilities
As a Telecoms Operator you will be carrying out maintenance, inspection, supervision and installation tasks across the National Grid Telecoms network. You’ll be results driven, to ensure our National Grid Telecoms teams and customers receive excellent support and service.
The work will involve working along and away from the depot. The working environment requires quick, decisive and responsible actions to meet the demands of the role. You will have challenging targets and will need to be flexible in your approach. You will:
- Respond to enquiries, both verbally and in writing from Telecoms team members or from Customers.
- Operate and maintain the National Grid Telecoms Support mailbox system.
- Administer various databases supporting National Grid Telecoms.
- Provide administration and support to the National Grid Telecoms teams.
You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally, and in writing, with customers and other team members and must be able to represent the company positively at all times.
- you have been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government
- you were studying abroad
- you were living overseas with parents
