**About us**

Avencia consulting is recruiting a pricing actuary on behalf of an impressive global re/insurer.
The Company currently writes lines of business including; speciality insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, credit & political risk, and other speciality; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, speciality reinsurance,whole account/multi-class.

**The role**

Rare opportunity with future growth potential at a renowned (re)insurer. This newly created role will join a growing team, work closely with the underwriting teams and support other Group functions in respect of the provision of actuarial pricing supportfocusing on Marine and Energy Specialty lines, profitability reviews, exposure and aggregation analysis, business planning activities and other actuarial-related activities as required.

**Key accountabilities**
- Undertake the provision of actuarial pricing support to class underwriters within the underwriting division
- Classes include Marine (Hull, Liability, cargo, war), Energy including renewables and assist across other classes as needed.
- Undertake development of existing and new exposure and experience rating models using actuarial tools and techniques to quantify and evaluate risk factors in order to analyse the profitability of risks within the company.
- To collate data and undertake appropriate research, including analysis of market statistics, in order to assist the underwriting department's (re-)parameterisation of the pricing models developed, including benchmarking the models to the commercial marketplace.
- To develop a detailed understanding of the Marine book including our marine MGAs.
- Assist in monitoring of aggregations of risk and contribute to risk reporting.
- Assist with reserving parameterisation and capital modelling as required.
- Communicate conclusions effectively to underwriters, actuaries and senior management.
- Continuously improve analysis to ensure it is at the forefront of the industry in order to maintain commercial advantage.

**Skills & experience**
- Bachelor's Degree and FIA or equivalent actuarial designation. Nearly/Newly qualified with mínimal exams to complete will also be considered.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in property and casualty insurance, consulting and/or reinsurance with pricing commercial insurance/reinsurance in London markets preferred.
- Knowledge of actuarial techniques for pricing various lines of business including simulation techniques for pricing loss sensitive product features.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with proven ability to communicate with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the insurance, reinsurance and financial markets as well as being a lateral thinker
- Must possess excellent technical and computer skills including proficiency in Excel and SQL (highly desirable).
