Pathway (MHRP)
**Overview: The Mental Health Recovery Pathway **(MHRP) is a mental health provision based across three sites in Islington responding to the mental health needs of Islington residents; it offers two pathways - **The Integrated Community Support (ICS)**, providing day service opportunities for people with Low and Medium
Preventative Care Needs and **The Structured Integrated Support (SIS)** for people with Higher and more complex needs.
**Reporting to**:The Integrated Community Support (ICS) Manager
**Job purpose**:To run, manage and oversee the Islington Mind’s Crisis Café / Out of Hours Service. You will be a key point of contact and the link between the weekdays and weekend Crisis Café / Out of Hours Service provision. You will supervise and the Crisis Café / Out of Hours Service staff team.
**Hours of work**: 21 hours per week to include:
one shift at the weekend and three shifts on weekdays Monday to Friday 6:00pm-10:00pm. You will need to be available for work between the hours of 2:00pm-10:00pm. You will also need to take part in an on call rota.
You will have overall management responsibility for the Crisis Café, which operates Monday to Friday 6-10pm and Saturday and Sunday 2-6pm.
**Annual Leave**: 26 working days per year pro rata
**Salary**:£30,606 - £32,868 **pro rata**(Scales 6/19 - S01/23 of the National Joint Council for Local Government pay scales)
£18,363 - £19,720 for 21 hours per week.
**Pension**:Islington Mind operates the auto-enrolment pension scheme and currently employer contribution is 3% and employees contribution is 5%
**Location**: The post holder will work from our Despard Road site in Islington, and occasionally from other Islington Mind sites.
**Duties And Responsibilities**
**Service Delivery**
1. To manage and oversee the running of the Mental Health Recovery Pathway Crisis café, Out Of Hours service on weekends 2:00-6:00pm and on weekdays Monday - Friday evenings: 18:00 - 22:00 Mondays, including:
- Based on site at Crisis Café including one session at weekends and three sessions during the week including evening openings.
- Overseeing and supervising 2 weekend Crisis Café Workers and 2 weekday Crisis Café Workers
- Visiting to the café 2 weekdays evenings every week to supervise and support the team and/or being on call for emergencies
- Running and managing the weekends’ - Saturday and Sunday café with another member of staff and volunteers
- Supervising and processing new referrals to the Crisis café from agencies and organisations such as the Crisis Teams, the Crisis resolution team and GP clinics, providing tailored emotional containment and support, introducing to all Islington Mind services and signposting to relevant local service providers
- Overseeing the crisis café’s therapeutic safe space, offering opportunities to socialise and tackle isolation
- Overseeing and managing the café’s risk and safeguarding procedures.
- developing and supervising a programme of user lead activities and peer lead discussion groups (e.g. art, music, creative writing, sewing, drama, music, CV writing, and various Expert by Experience groups etc.)
- supporting people in mental health crisis and referring to appropriate support agencies (e.g. crisis teams, crisis houses A&E etc.)
2. To regularly liaise, communicate, develop partnerships and collaborative work with local statutory and voluntary sector organisation and specifically with crisis provisions in the borough of Islington and across the NCL, including crisis teams, the Crisis resolution, crisis houses, inpatient wards etc.
3. To work in partnership with other crisis cafes, specifically in the NCL, including regular meetings and collaboration activities.
**Service User Involvement And Support**
4. To ensure service users views are key drivers, that services are fully accessible to all and that all users are aware of the Mental Health Recovery Pathway Service User Zone, including volunteering programmes, complaint, complements and feedback procedures and how to become members of the MHRP’s Service-User Advisory / Reference Group, encouraging service users to take part in decision making processes and in all aspects of service delivery and development.
5. To establish a supportive and respectful relationships with service users; to work in a way that acknowledges the personal, social, cultural and spiritual strengths and needs of the individual
To support and encourage individual service users to develop and use self-advocacy skills, develop self-management strategies, progress to and/or maintain independence.
