Main duties of the role will include -- Assist in the production of the statutory financial statements in line with the CIPFA Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting and International Financial Reporting Standards
- Assist the Senior Accountants in the provision of financial support, and deliver periodic financial performance to facilitate tactical and strategic direction.
- Assist with the delivery of training that promotes good financial management practices.
- Assist in the delivery of the annual budget setting process to ensure the annual budget is set in a timely and accurate manner.
- Produce Statement of Accounts in accordance with the Charity Accounts Statement of Recommended Practice.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure systems and process changes are audit compliant and new recommendations are implemented within the appropriate timescales.
- Assist in the maintenance of the organisation’s Financial Procedures Manual to ensure robust corporate governance and financial stewardship, including the timely and effective completion of control account reconciliations.
- Assist in updating of the fixed asset register through the maintenance of statutory accounting records and capital returns.
- Support the Senior Accountants in the delivery of robust business planning and business change initiatives
- Assist in the financial management and stewardship of externally funded grant schemes, including the accurate and timely completion of Grant returns and claims
- Prepare both statutory and non-statutory returns for review and approval by the Senior Accountants.
- Support the Senior Accountants in the delivery of efficient and effective Treasury Management processes.
- Maintain and assist in the development of financial ledgers and related computer systems to ensure the completeness, relevance, accuracy and timeliness of financial/business information is upheld.
- Support the Senior Accountants in the delivery of KPIs, Objective Analysis, activity analysis and benchmarking information.
- Must have experience of working within multi-disciplined financial arena.
- Must have previous experience of using computerised financial management information systems.
- Must have experience of producing Statutory Financial Statements and associated year end procedures.
- Must have experience of supporting a treasury management function including the analysis and scheduling of investment opportunities
- Must have knowledge of the financial flows relating to public bodies.
- Must have a practical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Financial Reporting Standards.
- Must have outline knowledge of corporate and financial governance, including Financial Regulations and Manual of Governance.
- Must have knowledge of Treasury Management techniques and controls.
- Must be able to evidence Continual Professional Development.
