The post will be: 37 hours per week term time only plus 5 TED days.
Pay: NJC Scale 4 point 7-11 - £17,184 - £18,601 actual
**The Role of the Senior Learning Coach at the ContinU Plus Academy**
**Rationale**:
The Senior Learning Coach provides appropriate support and guidance and a personalised learning plan for individual Young Learners in their care. This will be based on personal knowledge of their circumstances, their learning needs, achievements and aspirations and will be backed up by significant bench marking information on academic and well-being starting points. The Learning Coach should know the Young Learner better than anyone else. Willingness to support Learning inside and outside the classroom.
**The Learning Coach Team**
Members of the team will provide generic and specific skill support across the school curriculum as described below and Senior Learning Coaches are expected to contribute to at least three as a minimum, including
- Literacy, reading and intervention support
- Maths interventions
- Therapeutic sessions to support cognitive behaviour interventions devised and monitored by the AHT
- Offsite support with vocational learning
- Outdoor education and physical education
- Transport support and trip supervision (VL training will be available)
- Home visits
The team will provide support across the day. Team members will be provided with individual time allocations and contracts to ensure full team coverage.
**Overarching purpose**
Our aim for KS3 pupils is to achieve successful reintegration into mainstream school and for KS4, a successful and sustainable post 16 destination is achieved. This will be achieved by Learning Coaches:
1. Giving each Young Learner a feeling of increased self-esteem and self-worth at the CPA through a supported individualised package devised in consultation with SLT.
2. Monitoring the progress of the Young Learner across the curriculum and ensuring consistent and acceptable standards of work, progress and behaviour.
3. Evaluating the impact of the curriculum on the Young Learner and communicating this to parents/carers, teachers and other professionals.
4. Identifying obstacles to personal progress and attempting to overcome them, working collaboratively where necessary
5. Developing good relationships with Young Learners and their parent/carers.
6. Working in partnership with teaching, support staff and extended and external services.
**Senior Learning Coach Responsibilities**
1. The Learning Coach will work with the SENCO to draft an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for learners in their care. This will be drafted according to needs identified by the baseline assessment data.
2. The Learning Coach will meet individual Young Learners with parents/carers at the beginning of each term to monitor and update the ILP, agree targets and highlight progress or concerns.
3. The Learning Coach will have regular contact with parents/carers, in order to update them with positive or negative behaviours in school and invite them in for meetings where necessary.
4. An electronic Learning Plan will be maintained on the CPA website virtual learning environment to allow for three way communication about learning between parent/carers, learners and the school.
5. The Learning Coach will maintain an overview of the Young Learner’s achievement online and will report to parent carers on a bi-weekly basis.
6. The Learning Coach will meet their Learning Group daily for two registration periods. During this time the Learning Coach will register the group as well as provide pastoral and academic support.
7. In the morning Learning Coaches will prepare Young Learners for the day and follow a routine. This requires the Learning Coach to remind Young Learners of timetable requirements, targets, meetings, activities and curriculum and behaviour expectations.
8. Learning Coaches will make sure Young Learners are involved in the rewards scheme and must keep up to date records of merits and rewards.
9. Learning Coaches will be expected to support pupils with transition to Post 16 and access to future education, employment or training. Learning Coaches will also be expected to support the CPA work experience programme & offsite provision including transport, home tutoring and flexible learning projects.
10. Opportunities to access additional paid work may be available during school holidays to support summer school acitivities.
11. To support and manage classroom behaviour in the absence of the teacher.
12. To act as a teacher when required.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
