**About us**

Hounslow KEO (Knowledge Equals Opportunity) is a programme that runs to help support families in Hounslow. Working with schools, social services, parenting & community groups to engage families who children are currently in Hounslow’s alternative provision, SEND & Pupil Referral unit or who at risk at removal from mainstream education.

The programme will deliver in meetings and workshops in the local area that encourage and support young people and families aged 11-16 to gain confidence, have a space to feel heard and a mentor that they can seek advice from.

Volunteer's will support the KEO project with weekly community meetings for families where we will cover topics such as developing and improving English language skills. Gaining a better understanding of the school system and how you can support your children with things such as mental health and general support. A space where families will be able to connect with others and learn about opportunities in the local area. Additionally, weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions for the young people.

Volunteering Matters recruits and fully trains volunteers who are over the age of 18 to support families in the borough of Hounslow. Volunteers play a vital role in encouraging and supporting families to develop their confidence and feel correctly supported.

Volunteers are needed to:

- Support on community meetings
- Mentor a young person
- Online/ in person meetings
- Tasks can be flexible and communicated with project manager.

As a volunteer you’ll receive:

- Out of pocket expenses, including travel costs
- Training
- A paid-for DBS check
- Safeguarding training
- Ongoing support
- Regular contact with project manager
- Future references

The role is fully flexible and can be tailored to your availability.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
