**Job overview**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 WTE Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic partnership service **Action for Children** in Staffordshire. The role involves a mix of remote working and face-to-face work at one of our bases in Newcastle-under-Lyme or Rugeley. The post-holder will be integrated into our Action for Children partnership and work with a multi-disciplinary team delivering interventions to Children and Young people referred for getting help emotional well-being (Tier 2) support including Children in Care. The services works in line with a THRIVE model and offers intervention at a preventative level (i.e. through preventative support within schools, offering digital interventions etc.) as well as offering direct therapeutic interventions with children, young people and parents/carers.

As a compassionate multidisciplinary team player you will have effective communication skills and an ability to liaise well with team members, colleagues, children, young people, carers and partnership agencies. You will have a sound working knowledge of the Children's Act, the Mental Health Act, risk and Safeguarding and an ability and willingness to share your knowledge and skills with others. The team will work creatively with the children and young people accessing the service and ensure that participation is central to all care offered. **You must have knowledge and skills in clinical risk management.**

**Main duties of the job**

We have opened this post to a Senior Mental Health Practitioner because we want to attract a good quality, qualified, experienced clinician with a passion for working with children, young people and their families. You could be a mental health nurse, a psychologist, a psychotherapist, a CBT therapist for example as long as you are experienced to meet the job description and person specification and have extensive experience of risk assessment and risk management.

This post will give you an opportunity to provide intervention where it is vitally important - in the early stages before difficulties become entrenched and critical. You will be accountable for own your own professional practice in the delivery of specialist psychological care to clients struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**

Deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions to children, young people and parents.

Offer clinical supervision and consultation to team members

Provide leadership in multi-disciplinary training and development

Provide leadership in service audit and development, for example developing group interventions and pathways within the service.

Complete risk assessments and support the wider team in assessing and managing risk

Work closely with local CAMHS teams, social care and other third-sector organisations to ensure that services are working collaboratively to meet the needs of the child.

Be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.

Promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.

Promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust.

**Essential criteria**
- Degree/equivalent experience in CAMH related field.
- Experience of safeguarding for children and young people.
- Demonstrates advanced assessment, risk assessment and care planning skills.
- Demonstrates extensive post qualification experience of care coordination and risk assessments.

- 10 hour shift
