We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Engineer, known as a Project Agent at Story Scotland, to join our Story Scotland division based at our Blantyre office - and there has never been a better time to join

The Role

As a Project Agent at Story Contracting, you will be working within the Civils Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Team and will be assisting with the delivery of key projects for both public and private clients. These involve the construction of new and refurbishment of existing of trunk roads structures, scour protection schemes, access roads and infrastructure for hydro-electric schemes, battery storage and solar schemes, and various other civil engineering works across multiple sectors for various clients within the Scottish construction and renewables industries.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with tender submissions, providing buildability input and details of production rates and new technologies
- Prepare site paperwork using Story template documents, including Construction Phase Plan, method statements, risk assessments, environmental and quality plans, and site permits
- Undertake reviews of design drawings and specifications, carry out take-offs and produce procurement schedules
- Oversee all aspects of on-site engineering, from design checks, take offs, setting out and quality control throughout project lifecycle
- Lead the Health & Safety culture on site, producing and maintaining site safety documents and registers and working with the site manager to deliver toolbox talks and promote the hazard spotter process
- Use the online Story Contracting document control process to manage the quality process on our sites, including check sheets, material testing, ITPs and the submission of Health and Safety files at project completion
- Attend pre-start and project meetings providing updates on project commercial and programme performance
- Oversee sub-contractor performance and be the key point of liaison for their site supervisors, ensuring their HSEQ performance and adherence to the programme
- Support less experienced members of the team, providing coaching and mentoring to facilitate their development

- Multi-sector experience of civil engineering schemes, with excellent working knowledge of the specification for highway works
- Highly skilled in setting out with the ability to coach and train younger engineers
- Working knowledge of various IT programmes, including Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD
- SMSTS 5 Day Site Safety certified preferred (training can be provided)
- Full driving licence
- Excellent communication skills
- Qualified to degree level in civil engineering or HNC / HND
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
- Willingness to work nightshift, weekend shift work and stay away from home when required
