Bernard Berger Limited, a thriving independent off-licence, is seeking a dedicated **Purchasing Consultant** to manage our stock acquisition through strategic shopping and cash-and-carry visits. This crucial role will ensure we consistently offer our customers a diverse and well-stocked selection of beverages and related products.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Strategic Shopping & Cash & Carry Visits**: Plan and execute regular shopping trips to various cash-and-carry outlets and wholesalers to source stock at competitive prices.
- **Stock Selection & Procurement**: Identify and purchase a wide range of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and related products based on customer demand and market trends.
- **Negotiation & Price Comparison**: Negotiate favourable prices and terms with suppliers, comparing prices across different outlets to maximise profit margins.
- **Inventory Management**: Monitor stock levels and proactively replenish inventory to avoid shortages, while minimising overstocking.
- **Quality Control**: Inspect and ensure the quality of all purchased products, checking for damages and expiry dates.
- **Logistics & Transportation**: Arrange for the safe and efficient transportation of purchased stock to the off-licence.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records of all purchases, including invoices, receipts, and inventory updates.
- **Market Research**: Stay informed about new products, promotions, and industry trends to inform purchasing decisions.
- **Customer Feedback**: Gather and consider customer feedback to inform purchasing decisions.

**Essential Skills & Experience**:

- Proven experience in purchasing or stock procurement, ideally within the retail or off-licence sector.
- Strong understanding of the cash-and-carry environment and its dynamics.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Valid driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle (essential).
- Ability to handle and transport heavy items.
- A good knowledge of alcoholic and soft drink products.

**Desirable Skills**:

- Existing relationships with local wholesalers and cash-and-carry outlets.
- Experience in using inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of relevant licensing and regulations related to the sale of alcohol.
