Trainee Actuary

We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Actuary based in our London office.
This is a junior level role where you will provide analytical and actuarial support to the Business Engagement Actuarial team. This support will include pricing, assisting in portfolio management and business planning.
This role is eligible for a referral bonus of up to £3000.
What will you do?
You will provide assistance to senior members of the Business Engagement Actuarial team to achieve the objectives for a UK and Ireland Commercial Insurer in one or more of the following areas:
- Large case pricing: Provide an actuarial view of what the business should charge for a particular risk to achieve our Return on Capital targets. This includes data manipulation and producing summaries of results via graphs and tables.
- Benchmark pricing: Support the team in validating the rates within the benchmark pricing tools that are used by the underwriters.
- Business planning: Help to set up analysis of the profitability of various segments in the business. This will involve taking historical profitability and adjusting it for the book we current write and project the expected future profitability.
- Portfolio management: Undertake various analysis using data available to understand the book written and drive further change within the business as required.
- Process Efficiencies: Seek opportunities to simplify, streamline and automate our current actuarial processes.
As part of this role you will be encouraged to undertake an apprenticeship in this area to provide you with further support.
- University degree in STEM related field.
- Completed and gained a minimum of a 2:1 degree
- Basic PC skills (MS Office), basic programming skills (eg. SQL, SAS).
- Some working experience within an Actuarial role, preferably from a Pensions background.
