We are seeking to appoint a Direct Payments Advisor within our Direct Payments Team based in the Children with Disabilities Service (CWD).

You will be responsible for setting up DP Pre-paid accounts, paying and monitoring the use of public funds to ensure that there is good governance. You will also liaise with customers, social workers, family support workers and other stakeholders to resolve issues and provide information and advice. Ideally, you will have experience of making direct payment accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities including people with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, learning disabilities, mental health as well as carers. The role will involve occasional home visits.

We would like to hear from people who have knowledge of Direct Payments legislation, guidance, and ability to undertake regular auditing of client accounts to ensure effective use of resources with excellent communication and people skills.

About You
- We are looking for a confident Direct Payments Officer, who also have the following:

- Educated at Degree level
- ECDL Qualification or a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Packages
- A basic understanding of the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014 how this can be implemented in local government.
- A basic understanding of personal budgets and how these are implemented by local government.
- Comprehensive understanding and proven experience of using IT or Microsoft Packages including ContrOCC and CRS.
- Excellent understanding of banking systems with the introduction of prepaid card or virtual accounts.
- Knowledge of Social Care and Direct Payment legislation, guidance and practice relevant to service users and carers.
- Good working knowledge of Safeguarding for Children.
