Job Description

About Us

The King’s community is dedicated to the service of society. King’s Strategic Vision 2029 sets out our vision for the future, shaped around five priority areas: educate to inspire and improve; research to inform and innovate; serve to shape and transform; a civic university at the heart of London; and an international community that services the world. Our ambitious Education Strategy sets out the actions that we must take to transform how we teach, how and where our students learn and how we support them during their time with us.

Interdisciplinary Education is a new and growing team at King’s which is responsible for the development and launch of new strategic initiatives that will transform students’ experience of King’s within the framework of the University’s Strategy. Among these is King’s First Year, a module that enables students to develop critical perspectives and skill-sets that can be applied in almost any field of human endeavour.

About the Role

The Researcher: Interdisciplinary Education will lead our evaluation of inter-disciplinary modules and research on students’ and tutors’ experience of interdisciplinary education. Working closely with an Educational Developer, the Associate Director and a range of academic colleagues the researcher will design and deliver a creative range of evaluation strategies that support developing practices across a growing community of interdisciplinary educators. The postholder will work with students and staff, developing rapport and encouraging critical engagement with evaluative data that the postholder generates.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

Key responsibilities
- To design and lead evaluative research on interdisciplinary education using strategies that provide both formative data and evidence of impact.
- To analyse the implications of a range of quantitative and qualitative data sets for the purpose of providing frequent interim reports and comprehensive final reports.
- To present findings in ways that stimulate reflection in order to promote evidence-based inclusive learning and teaching practices
- To design and deploy creative methodologies that will stimulate the development of our understanding of students’ and tutors’ experiences of new interdisciplinary modules at King’s
- To advise on future evaluation strategies in interdisciplinary education at King’s.
- To play a full and collegial part as a member of the Interdisciplinary Education Team
- The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post._
