To manage Production Operatives, the production process, customer requirements, ensuring the quality of products, meeting safety targets set by the Company, consistently and cost effectively. This is a great opportunity to lead all staff and operational areas of a 20 - 25 plus person shift, following Salisbury Poultry policies and procedures. You will help produce quality products, which meet customer requirements on time and to specification, in safe and efficient manner and to agreed cost standards. The Team Leader will deputize when needed in absence of the Shift Manager.

**Duties / Responsibilities**
- Role Specific_
- To effectively manage the line/your area and its production to ensure KPI’s targets are met.
- **Key Accountabilities**_
- To supervise a shift of production operators ensuring a safe ‘zero harm’ working environment at all times and production meets legal and Salisbury Poultry food safety and hygiene standards
- Ensure key performance indicators are met including line rates, quality and yield as well as fill the shift report
- Monitor excess wastage and make sure this is controlled and reduced where possible
- Ensure employee and product safety by embedding full training according to task procedures and individual needs
- Ensure the team is engaged, motivated and has regular welfare, mentoring and performance evaluation
- Improve the operation through continual review of line performance and implement ideas to reduce costs
- Complete detail shift handover
- Ensure all attendance records are completed in the Time and Attendance system
- To ensure your line/area is fully set up and operational at the start of the shift before Production Operatives arrive for the start of their shift
- To liaise with relevant Internal Departments to ensure the products are produced in accordance with the Works Orders
- To ensure products are produced in compliance with customer specifications.
- To ensure full compliance with the Company's policies and procedures, adherence to HACCP and Hygiene principles including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
- To ensure that your lines/areas are not over staffed.
- To be flexible with the ability to work in other Departments with other Supervisors
- To provide cover for Supervisors/Charge Hands in other Departments in the event of absence due to holiday or sickness
- To attend training sessions both internal and external as and when required
- Using the tablets to manage the employee’s absence, overtime and holidays. This information to be provided in accordance with set deadlines.
- To ensure your staff are rotated in accordance with Company Policy and that rotation sheets are signed
- To talk to and liaise with your staff. Keep them updated and advised at all times.
- To ensure at all times that your staff are wearing the appropriate PPE. If not, they should be disciplined with verbal warning and thereafter passed onto HR if needed.
- At all times to monitor the use and care of Company equipment including but not limited to knives, chain mail gloves and sharpening files.
- To ensure that your line/area is kept clean and tidy at all times to meet hygiene with or without the assistance of a Cleaner
- Supervise quality of products and ensure non-conformances are dealt with in accordance with Customer requirements in a timely and efficient manner.
- Implement new initiatives as and when required
- At all times to minimize downtime for production.
- Ensure that accurate and detailed records are logged and shared with Production, Manufacturing and Section Managers.
- At all times to ensure that there is a safe working environment for Production Operatives
- In the event of an accident or near miss to ensure that Accident Report Form is completed, and Company Policy followed
- To be flexible in line with production needs and to additional hours as and when required to meet operational demands
- To keep Payroll and Training Departments updated with any staff changes/movements
- To work in collaboration with the QA's, Supervisors and the team to include supporting weekly GMP audits.
- To attend weekly Supervisor/Charge Hand meetings alongside the Senior Team, with the purpose to review the site's weekly performance.
- To complete shift reports as and when required on a daily basis
- Encourage team working within your own team and the wider team
- To manage, teach and educate the Charge Hands / Technical Operatives.
- At all times to comply with the instructions from your managers
- **People Management**_
- To ensure at all times that all Production Operatives are treated equally without favouritism or preference
- Ensure appraisals and reviews are carried out with staff with support of Training Officer
- Continually look to develop staff and to ensure that staff are fully utilizing their skills
- Develop and review good working practices and Standard Operating Procedures
