LOCATION: Woodlea Cottage, Muirend Road, Perth, PH1 1JU SALARY: £11,207 - £12,419 per year CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent POSITION TYPE: Part Time HOURS: 15 hours per week £11,207 - £12,419 (15 Hours per week) Woodlea Cottage, Perth Woodlea Cottage (Short Breaks Service), is a Perth and Kinross Local Authority service that provides day and overnight short breaks to children and young people who have complex disabilities, and their families. We have a vacancy for the post of part-time Social Care Officer (Residential Childcare). This job is graded at Job Families: Care and Learning Level 6. The role will include undertaking a range of responsibilities to ensure individual support and care plans are delivered in a way that meets the needs of service users. Your main duties will be shared with a small team of professionals providing high quality care and support to individuals and groups of children. The client group are aged between 5 and 18, and have complex, non-routine support needs due to disability. Your role is a varied one, which includes engaging and occupying the children and young people, attending to intimate personal care needs, and administering prescribed medicines including rescue medication. You will help plan and co-ordinate activities within a well-structured environment. A genuine interest in improving outcomes for children with complex disabilities is essential. Your work must meet the Health and Social Care Standards and the Scottish Social Services Council, Codes of Practice for Employees. Your employer will meet the Codes of Practice for Employers. As a professional child carer, you will reflect on the quality of your work with a supervisor during regular supervision and annual review meetings. You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Residential Childcare Worker and must meet any qualification requirement within timescales set by the Scottish Social Services Council. This is a permanent, part-time post. You will be salaried at 19 hours per week, but your hours of work will be varied to meet the demands of the service. You will hold a childcare qualification with one of the following: - SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7 or other accepted by SSSC for registration as a residential childcare worker. - HNC Social Services or equivalent. **The Individual**: If you can say "yes" to the following statements, we would like to hear from you. I have a good basic knowledge of the different ways to communicate with children and young people who are autistic, and those who have limited or no verbal communication. I am comfortable providing intimate personal care to children and teenagers who need help.
