**HGV DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES**.

The main duty is to transport packages to and from destinations.
- Plan deliveries and multi-drop deliveries between distribution centres, businesses, retail outlets etc.
- Daily check your vehicle is safe and report any issues you find. Submit vehicle checklist prior to and on completion of each rotation.
- Complying with all relevant driving regulations and rules.
- Overseeing and assisting with loading and unloading of goods, ensuring this is done safely and in line with road and transport legislation.
- Updating delivery paperwork, logbooks and tracking mileage.
- Flexibility is required due to the nature of the business and willingness to work increased hours during peak trading times.
- Regularly check traffic reports and change your route if needed
- Adhere to all company and health &safety policies and procedures.
- Reporting any delays or accidents promptly.

**Skills and knowledge**

You'll need:

- Knowledge of vehicle functionality and ability to handle small repairs.
- Concentration skills for staying focused while driving
- Customer service skills and good communication skills with both customers and colleagues.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations and always stay updated with new road regulations and laws.
- Expert in driving heavy and light vehicles
- The ability to organise your time and workload
- Work alone effectively.
- Ability to work under high pressure and know what needs to be done in an emergency if required.
- Physical skills like lifting, bending and carrying
- Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits
- To be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device

**Restrictions and Requirements**

You'll need to:

- Be able to drive 3.5T and or 7.5T HGV.
- Hold a full and clean car drivers licence as well as C1 Category licences depending on the size of lorry you will drive.
- Be over 18 years of age
- Hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)
- Pass the pre-requisite certified medical.
- Experience with GPS navigation, mapping and route planning.
- To stay qualified, every 5 years you'll need to take 35 hours of driver CPC training and renew your HGV driving licence.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: £110.00-£150.00 per day

Expected hours: 30 - 50 per week

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift

**Experience**:

- Delivery driver experience: 1 year (preferred)
- Driving: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (required)

Work Location: On the road
