**Job summary**:
This role is within the Fraud and Error Resolution Unit and offers the opportunity to contribute to the safeguarding of vital resources for the people of Scotland who need them, by overseeing the gathering of information required to support the investigation of fraud allegations. You will also oversee the storage and retention of evidence in line with our policies to ensure the security and integrity of its content to support potential criminal proceedings.

**Job description**:
You will lead an Information Gathering Team, with your main duties comprising:

- Overseeing the gathering of information through the use of statutory powers or other appropriate legislation
- Overseeing online surveillance conducted within the requirements of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (Scotland) Act 2000
- Taking appropriate measures to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and your staff
- Workforce planning, recruitment, induction and training
- Ensuring that your team operates to instructions, and all activities undertaken comply with legal and policy requirements
- Managing the workflow and caseload of your team
- Coaching, developing, leading and motivating your team to achieve team objectives
- Ensuring that appropriate Management Information is collected to inform service development and meet reporting requirements
- Working closely with service design colleagues to investigate, procure and implement additional capability for our information gathering function

**Person specification**:
1. Operational experience in an intelligence and/or an investigatory role in a criminal investigation environment, including knowledge of the statutory requirements of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (Scotland) Act 2000 and associated Codes of Practice for covert operations.

2. Experience of collaborative working with internal and external partners, seeking opportunities to share resources, information, experience and best practice

3. A proven ability to lead teams through a changing environment, demonstrating flexibility and contributing to overcoming challenges

4. A proven ability to identify opportunities for improvements, exploring a range of options to address these, and taking an inclusive approach to decision making.
