**UNIX Systems Administrator**

As a Barclays UNIX Systems Administrator you will form part of the Unix Change The Bank (CTB) team who manage change within the mission critical, global enterprise, server estate, this environment underpins Barclay’s core infrastructure services. You will specifically be effectively implementing and managing Unix change within the Unix server estate.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

**What will you be doing?**:

- Owning complex project deliverables and work packages assigned to the Unix Projects CTB team
- Acting as an escalation point within the team to resolve technically complex issues within the Unix Projects CTB team
- Working collaboratively across the platform and technology stack, identifying issues, gaps and underlying problems affecting project delivery
- Driving delivery best-practice across the team and thinking long-term
- Representing the platform within the organization, building relationships and managing stakeholders while delivering effective and managed change
- Managing and contributing in a meaningful way to technical project meetings
- Managing key suppliers and vendors
- Building relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the project hierarchy

**What we’re looking for**:

- A collaborative and proactive individual who contributes positively to the wider team
- In depth experience of implementing complex change to Unix operating systems and environments
- Experience of implementing change to enterprise scale, complex and secure server estates
- Experience and knowledge of supporting Unix technologies (clustering/storage management/automation/security)

**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Deep AIX, Redhat or Solaris understanding and associated certifcations
- Experience of implementing Unix change in a financial services organisation
- The ability to code (Ruby/ Python/Perl)
- Knowledge of monitoring systems and concepts of large scale monitoring (Nagios, UIM, Nimbus)

**Where will you **be working?**
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play.
