Wolds Childcare is a small setting which prides itself on its generous childcare ratios. We offer a home from home environment catering for children from 3 months to 5 years in age. Our daily routine focuses on plenty of real life, outdoor based activities and situations.

Due to increasing numbers, we are looking for a Forest School Practitioner who is passionate about outdoor learning, that will ignite a love of learning in the outdoors for our little people. Our setting is extremely fortunate to have 1 Acre of onsite Woodlands.

**Responsibilities**:

- To plan and oversee the daily delivery, organisation and running of Forest School lessons.
- To evaluate practice for continuous development of our environment, children’s learning and experiences
- To promote learning in the outdoor environment reflecting the ethos of Forest School and the setting.
- To ensure the health and safety of all participants, including writing and checking risk assessments for the site, activities and tools used. This includes liaising with our site maintenance team for the upkeep of standards.
- For the high standards of care and education of all group members in accordance with the Wolds Forest Schools Leader principles and criteria for good practice
- To ensure effective communication with setting Educators to evidence and challenge children’s learning and development.
- To plan and oversee the daily delivery, organisation and running of Forest School holiday club for children aged 4-8.

**Person Specification**:
**Knowledge**
- Desirable but not Essential: Level 3 Forest Schools Programme Leadership Certificate (or at least Level 2 working towards Level 3)
- Be willing to undertake the PFA training
- Hold a Food Hygiene Certificate (or be willing to undertake the training)
- An understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of sustainable woodland management and education within the outdoor environment

**Skills**
- Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Ability to effectively manage risk and produce thorough risk assessments, putting suitable measures in place to ensure the safety of all Educators and children
- Ability to think creatively and adapt activities to allow all children to be included and a commitment to equal opportunities for all learners
- To remain calm under pressure.

The successful applicant must be able to undertake and provide a clear enhanced DBS check and provide references that are satisfactory.

Part-time hours: 30 per week
