**Role Snapshot**You will be a member of a busy Place Shaping Team, providing technical and administrative to support the successful function of the team. This will include contributions to the research and preparation of planning policy documents and responsibility for the Place Shaping Team’s monitoring function (including preparation of the Annual Monitoring Report, residential land assessment and returns/ reports to government and other bodies).

**What you’ll be doing **
- Process and respond to enquiries on planning policy, neighbourhood planning and infrastructure planning matters.
- Responsible for the development, production, interpretation and presentation of planning policy monitoring information to enable the effectiveness of current policy to be monitored, and to influence the development of future policy.
- Responsible for the timely production of the Council’s Authority Monitoring Report, the residential land availability register and for gathering research and reporting to government and other bodies on council statistics e.g delivery of homes and pupil forecasting data.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining systems for the provision of statistical data and other monitoring information. Understand and interpret information submitted to the councils from outside bodies and formulate responses where necessary.
- Maintain the councils’ evidence base for use in the production of the Local Plan.

**You must have **
- Relevant qualification (HNC or related degree) and/or proven experience in a planning environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Understanding of public sector planning environment.
- Good understanding of IT skills, including Microsoft Office products with advanced XSL.
- Ability to undertake numerical analysis.
- Well-developed administrative skills with practical experience in running and improving administrative systems.
- Attention to detail and good problem solving skills.
- Proven customer care skills and the ability to handle difficult customers and resolve issues.
- Organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload, prioritise and meet deadlines effectively.
- An ability to prepare reports, extract and interpret information from plans and files.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- 56-70% of this role’s time will be spend on external communication.
