Overview:
Harrow Council is looking for an experienced Environmental Protection Team Leader - We are seeking someone with a strong EP background to oversee a team of environmental health staff responsible for providing environmental protection and enforcement services. The team responds to complaints about noise, accumulation and general nuisance as well as planning responses and proactive work on air quality, contaminated land and general protection of the local environment.

About you:

- Full member of a relevant chartered or professional organisation, preferably chartered status, or holder of post graduate qualificationrelated to the role.
- Recognised supervisory or management qualification, or experience of supervising or managing professional staff.
- Possession of a full current driving licence.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment independently and as part of a team.
- High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent in the use of standard computer systems and technical databases.
- Ability to carry out duties outside normal working hours as may be necessary including response to emergency situations and outside of office hours.
- To demonstrate a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities.
- Knowledge of the responsible authority role in premise licensing.
- Direct evidence of specialist experience of preparing reports, briefing notes and statutory notices
- Experience of working creatively with internal and external agencies to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Experience of advising corporate bodies on high level complex matters with major implications for the organisation.
