**About the role***:
**Ecclesiastical Insurance**, who are proudly part of **Benefact Group** are looking for a **Property Portfolio Underwriter** to join our** Gloucester**office.

This is a key individual role providing support to the Property Underwriting Manager and Property Underwriting Director across various elements of a broad and increasingly diverse Property Account, in turn enabling the Group to deliver its ambitions to give more to charities and other good causes.

Responsibilities are wide-ranging, including tactical and strategic portfolio monitoring, controls & development, large & complex case referrals, risk appetite & underwriting guide development, as well as delivery & oversight of technical policy documentation. This will entail close liaison with many other areas of the business at various levels, including senior management, and external representation.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Support the profitable development of the Account and delivery in line with or exceeding plan
- Develop and maintain policy wordings and other technical literature, ensuring regulatory compliance in line with Consumer Duty and Product Oversight and Governance procedures & requirements
- Including liaising effectively with Customer / Product, Marketing, IT and Compliance functions to deliver effective wording solutions
- Portfolio analysis to aid the understanding of Account performance, and support the active monitoring and management of Account KPI’s across various portfolios
- Recommend and draft timely changes & updates to the Line of Business risk appetite, underwriting guidance, pricing and policy wordings & associated literature
- Keep up to date with Line of Business opportunities, threats and market developments, including proactive research, and provide recommendations for action where appropriate
- Act as a technical referral point for the Account and cascade technical expertise to the trading teams and other business units
- Develop and deliver technical Line of Business training material and guidance for the wider business
- Act as a Line of Business and niche specialist, and support UKGI business units develop their knowledge & expertise to enhance relationships with brokers, customers and business partners
- Input into and support the delivery of pricing reviews and refinements as required, including collaboration with Actuarial Pricing
- Ensure underwriting quality is in line with underwriting strategy through;
- development and coaching of underwriting staff to enhanced underwriting capability
- technical audit support and escalation of areas of concern
- Leading the delivery of defined pieces of work end-to-end within agreed timescales
- Work as required across all aspects of the Underwriting function, working outside own area of specialism when needed

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:

- ACII Qualified or Dip CII with commitment to achieve ACII within a defined timescale
- Significant relevant experience of the Commercial insurance industry
- Strong proven property underwriting technical knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of Commercial and Retail policy wordings
- Experience of drafting and delivering policy wordings and other technical literature would be advantageous
- Real Estate / Property Owners experience would be advantageous
- Experience of working with a property surplus treaty would be advantageous
- Experience of leading projects would be advantageous
- Experience of influencing senior stakeholders within underwriting & wider business areas
- Practical experience of the ability to quickly implement new initiatives
