**About the opportunity**:
We are looking for a Senior Buyer (Confectionery) to join the Buying Team based at our Customer Support Centre in Walsall. The position is available as a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

Reporting to the Head of Trading, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for purchasing and supplying all products within the Grocery category. As a Senior Manager, you will be part of the Senior Management Team and coach and develop your team.

This is a diverse role working in a fast-paced environment. Budget retail is a sector like no other. You will be responsible for representing our business both in brand and culture through the products you select.

**What you'll be doing...**:
As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for:

- Purchasing and supply of all products within the category from conception to the bottom line
- Ensuring products are in line with current and future trends
- Cultivating and nurturing relationships with suppliers to ensure we can offer customers amazing products at an amazing value
- Negotiating costs and delivery timescales in line with company budget and KPI’s
- Visit factories to develop ranges, negotiate the cost of goods, exploring new markets in developing countries/economies
- Liaise with Merchandisers on the sourcing of product that meets promotional and seasonal activity

**What you'll need...**:

- At least five years’ experience in buying
- Previous experience of leading, coaching and developing a team
- Previous experience and willingness to travel overseas
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Good numeracy and Excel skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own workload
