Child Psychotherapist/Play therapist

**Accountable to**: Clinical Director
Hours: 40 hours per week (negotiable)

**Location**: Manchester, Lancashire and Staffordshire

**Job Purpose**
To be a key member of the clinical team, providing direct, trauma-informed psychotherapy
to children aged 5-14 living in our homes. Also to provide reflective practice and consultation
to our teams of restorative parents and teachers who work with children going through our
restorative Parenting Programme. To liaise with internal and external professionals and
family members as appropriate. To engage in relevant research and support the
development of and adherence to our therapeutic practice model.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**CLINICAL**
To provide specialist support to children suffering with the impact of trauma and attachment
difficulties, through a variety of creative modalities.
To contribute to the formulation and implementation of plans of specialist psychological
treatment and management of the children’s mental health needs.
To provide a specialist psychological perspective in the assessment of children referred to
the programme.
To provide reflective practice sessions for teams working with and educating traumatised
children.
To consult with and provide specialist psychological guidance and training to carers and,
where appropriate, families and professionals
To undertake some training in various theoretical aspects of the Restorative Parenting
To consult with and advise colleagues from other professions on the progress and emotional
well-being of children.
To participate in meetings concerned with the delivery and developments of clinical services
and contribute a psychological perspective as appropriate.

To develop and maintain good communication links with the NHS, Social Services and other
appropriate agencies

**PROFESSIONAL/ADMINISTRATIVE**
To participate in regular clinical supervision
To work within the Code of Ethics and the relevant professional practice guidelines of the
British Psychological Society and the professional guidance frameworks of Halliwell Homes.
To work within the framework of the policies and procedures of Halliwell.
To be responsible for relevant data collection on work activities, as required, and to maintain
a high standard of clinical record keeping
To carry out such other duties as agreed with the Clinical Director.
To undertake any reasonable travelling requirements in order to fulfil the tasks and
responsibilities of the role.
**PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, SUPERVISION AND TRAINING**
Continuously develop professional knowledge and expertise, attending and participating in
learning and development events, meetings, conferences, and events (as
requested/approved by line management) to ensure up to date knowledge relevant to the
role
Attend and participate in regular team and other meetings, both internal and external
