**CGF Gates Supervisor (Monday to Friday) 12 hour shifts**
**Job Overview**
The main role of the Gates Supervisor is to maintain established procedures and motivate and develop members of the team they are responsible for. The role requires a detailed knowledge of the DMS (Delivery Management System) and associated processes.
Supervisors are the key to the success of the security team and must ensure:
- To ensure Sellafield Site external and internal policies are followed and a full knowledge of these policies.
- Team administration and rostering on a shift by shift basis
- Oversee the general welfare of the team, organising breaks and lunch relief as and when required
- Monitor individual security officer appearance and performance ensuring a very high standard
- Enhance individual security officer performance through regular feedback together with initial “on-site” and continuation training
- Resolve more complex queries using experience and knowledge referring any complaints about security practices, to the “Shift Manager”
- Ensuring health, safety, fire and security checks are carried out efficiently during their tour of duty
- Carry out the appropriate “competency checks” of all personnel as required, ensuring that a record is kept in accordance with the training instructions

**Main Duties**
- To manage the day-to-day Sellafield Security operations, ensuring the compliant and efficient movement of visitors and staff through entry/egress points and adherence to Sellafield Site security protocols, through effective management and delegation.
- Monitor the standards, compliance and behaviours by Security Personnel against protocols, identifying performance standards, both good and bad.
- Manage the daily resource plan; ensuring breaks are allocated so colleagues are rotated regularly and fairly throughout daily duties.
- Ensure colleague engagement and communication, including team and daily briefs, at the start of each shift, to ensure a consistent and effective communication structure between management and officers.
- Complete daily audits and competency checks throughout each shift, ensuring standards are met, effective documentation and reporting is achieved and training requirements are highlighted.
- Respond to security breaches, incidents and emergencies, taking any necessary corrective action and following agreed reporting lines.
- Ensuring the appearance and the functionality of Security areas are at a high standard, and the necessary equipment is present and in order to create a professional environment and an efficient and compliant service.
- To lead, motivate, support and coach colleagues by setting the right personal example in the way duties are performed.
- Assist with the development of colleagues by providing coaching and mentoring where appropriate.
- Plan ahead and anticipate tactical shortfalls in staff resourcing, and take proactive and correct action.
- To effectively communicate operational concerns and daily reports to the Shift Manager.

- Excellent resource allocation skills, able to anticipate problems and the needs of the customer and react quickly to any demands of the service.
- Logical thinker with a meticulous eye for detail possibly in high pressure situations.
- Investigatory and report writing skills, able to decipher a sequence of events or circumstances and report on any findings.
- IOSH certified.
- Contractors building controller qualified.
- Monitored worker trained with good knowledge of the internal active areas of Sellafield Site.
