The main duties of this role would aim to enhance the delivery of family interventions by the psychology team and wider MDT. This would include reviewing current caseloads to identify service users and their families who may benefit from interventions; assisting with engagement and developing a working alliance with families; facilitating case discussions; managing reviews and collecting outcome data; and contributing to the psychology team's delivery of family and psychological interventions. The post holder would also be expected to develop and maintain appropriate liaison with staff from other disciplines to ensure a well-coordinated approach to family and individual psychological interventions.
ESTEP provides an early intervention service for individuals who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis. The psychology team work within professional guidelines to provide a high-quality specialist psychology service to service users, their families, and other professionals/services involved in the life and care of service users. All work conducted by the psychological therapists in the team is underpinned by evidence-based practice, NICE guidance, and DH guidance.
- Engagement and collaboration with service users and their families to facilitate access to family and individual psychological interventions
- Conducting robust assessment and formulation of a service user’s or family’s psychological needs.
- Offering highly skilled care-planning in response to the formulation and communicate this accordingly to those involved in the care of the service user and families.
- Offering training, consultation, and supervision to psychological therapists and colleagues who are working with service users and their families.
- Collaboration with colleagues, teams and other services towards the overall provision of evidence based, cost effective, direct and indirect interventions to service users, and other stake holders.
- To contribute to the decision-making process of how scarce resources are utilised wisely and appropriately.
- To contribute to the management of referrals by attending the MDTs and other relevant team meetings.
- To assist colleagues to develop working hypotheses of service users’ presenting needs, informing the next steps in their care.
- To assist in and contribute to the development of services, teams, projects and interventions. This includes contributing to the review and evaluation of key service activities and providing input regarding the effectiveness of interventions and models of care.
