**ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children / young people.
- To build professional positive relationships with children / young people and provide both practical and emotional support in a child centred environment.
- Promote structure, boundaries, and routines within a safe and nurturing environment.
- To assess, implement, review, and evaluate the care plans of young people.
- Promote children and young people’s social and emotional development.
- Support children and young people to engage in constructive use of their leisure time in line with care and placement plans.
- To support children and young people’s personal and emotional development.
- Facilitate meetings which allow young people to have a say in the running of the home.
- To attend and participate in meetings as appropriate and provide written and or verbal reports as required.
- Ensuring that each member of staff is aware of each child’s care plan and responsibilities for implementation.
- Undertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role model.
- Maintaining accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets and files both to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place.
- Providing supervisory control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities.
- Providing consultation and informal advice and support to staff in relation to day-to-day matters.
- Offering 1-1 supervision to the team.
- Contributing to team and staff meetings to facilitate good communication and staff development.
- Ensuring the team work within the company’s policies and procedures.
- Providing managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities.
- Identifying and communicating individual training and development needs of the team to the training co-ordinator.
- Addressing minor issues in relation to conduct and competence of staff.
- Assist the manager in promoting personal and professional development through the appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities.
- To work on a 3 on 3 off rota basis.
- To ensure resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained under the direction of the service managers.
- To receive supervision in line with the quality standards and to take responsibility for personal development and progress of individual training needs.
- To deputise in the absence of the manager.
- Ensuring that budgets are managed effectively, and the use of finances are properly monitored including petty cash receipts.
- Ensure the company vehicles are regularly cleaned and maintained.
- Ensure that all the vehicles have the appropriate paperwork, to facilitate all jobs.
- Monitoring the fabric of the building and taking immediate action where necessary.
- Developing in consultation with the young people and the staff routines in relation to all aspects of childcare.
- Clarifying expectations in relation to maintaining the home in a clean and orderly condition.
- Ensuring ALL food hygiene checks are completed, documented, and returned with the weekly paperwork.
- Ensuring that there are appropriate and adequate recording systems in place to comply with quality standards.
- Ensuring that all daily and weekly tasks, within the home are carried out to a high standard and that the paperwork is sent to the service manager, to evidence this, on a Monday morning.
- Report all incidents and accidents to the service manager immediately.
- Ensure all administration issues in relation to the home and the provision of weekly management information repots for central services. Refer to your daily checks document.
