Pressure Systems Consultant

This is a home-based opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer with an excellent knowledge of Pressure Systems and COMAH regulations, along with experience of working on high hazard sites.

We are currently looking for a person to carry out consultancy services in relation to the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and the COMAH regulations. Although the role will mainly cover the Midlands and South of England, travel to other areas of the UK and overseas may be required. Consideration would be given to applicants seeking full, or part time positions.
- You will be required to interact directly with the client and build a close working relationship.
- You will assist the client in generating schemes of examination and advice on the scope and types of inspection techniques that may be required.
- You will assist the client in meeting their compliancy requirements and be able to advise on methods to achieve these.

- You will conduct site surveys and in some cases carry out hands-on examination of plant and equipment in accordance with company inspection procedures.
- You will be able to prepare detailed reports pertaining to your site visits
- Support and assist the client in Risk Based Inspection (RBI) techniques, additionally the development and optimisation of RBI inspection plans
- Attend and contribute to various industry committees (i.e SAFed,IMechE,BCGA,BSI etc)
**Skills & Experience**
- A sound, current knowledge and understanding of all relevant Compliance and Regulatory rules and procedures that relate to Pressure Systems.
- Background in working with pressure equipment (Vessels and Pipework), chemical storage tanks and with practical experience in working in a role such as manufacturing / repair / maintenance.
- Strong customer interaction skills are essential, including excellent communication skills.
- Good computer literacy.
- Aptitude and understanding of the need for planning and an ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Confidence to make your own professional judgements/decisions
- An awareness of workplace hazards and safety requirements.
Please note: The role may require regular climbing and work in confined spaces.

**Qualifications**

You are required to hold certain minimum qualifications that are relevant to the Pressure discipline, such as HND / HNC / Full Technological Certificate / Board of Trade Chief Engineer 1st Class Certificate of Competence or comparable, in a mechanical discipline.
