Role: to keep the grounds of the Home in a tidy condition. To undertake errands as directed by the Manager, or in his absence the Deputy Manager on duty, to ensure minor repairs are carried out, and that repairs requiring specialist knowledge are reported to the Manager.
To undertake as required specific trips on behalf of the Home to Doctors, Chemist, Bank etc.
To check on delivery of items to the Home and to place said items in their appropriate stored locations. Invoices to be collected and passed to the Manager.
To undertake what necessary minor repairs may be required within the Home; this to include such items as adjustment of door closures, repairs to door handles, glazing to windows, replacement of light fittings, changing of light bulbs etc.
To ensure that central heating and water heating equipment and plant within the Home are operated in accordance with instructions, ensuring that the controls are regularly checked and properly set and that any problems identified are reported to the Manager.
To carry out other tasks deemed by the Manager or Responsible Individual to be those expected of a Handyman, and within the competence of the individual employed.
To work as an active member of the total care team.
Gardens and hard landscapes of the Home to be kept neat, tidy and in good order.
Maintain equipment where deemed appropriate
To test regularly and record fire alarm, emergency lighting, and security.
To take meter readings of electricity and gas supplies as appropriate and hand reading to the Manager.
To check hot water temperatures and sentinel taps etc as advised by Brodex and record.
To undertake PAT testing annually and keep up -to-date, ensuring records are available for perusal.
To undertake decorating tasks as directed by the manager, this specifically to involve the redecoration of resident accommodation and the general upkeep of corridor doors etc.
The physical handling of furniture and equipment as necessary.
To wash and disinfect external storage containers.
To check that all mechanical and electrical plant is in working order and to report defects to the Manager.
To be available for out of hours calls if required, in the case of emergencies.
To carry out such other reasonable duties that may be required of the individual and as directed by the Manager/Responsible Individual.
To clean windows from inside and outside on a fortnightly basis.
To ensure understand policies and procedures of the home
Ensure any incidents and accidents are documented and reported to the Registered Manager promptly
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30-40 per week
**Salary**: £9.00-£16.82 per hour
