This is an external and Internal advert. Are you looking for some part time weekend working? This part time band 3 MLA role is based at King George Hospital, Goodmayes in Blood Sciences Reception. Our main site is at Queen's Romford and staff may be asked to work across site. The hours are 7.5 on Saturday and 7.5 on Sunday. The applicant should be able to work in a team or under their own initiative. The role involves receiving samples, sorting into the relevant disciplines and then working on the Blood Sciences samples only. These samples are checked, labelled and then data entered onto the computer. Next samples are prepared ready for testing which may involve centrifuging, aliquoting or sending away to another laboratory. Ensuring turnaround times are met. If you are computer literate, hardworking and want to join a busy team, then this is the role for you. Experience is not essential. Full training will be given. We may withdraw the advert early if there are too many applicants.
To work in a team of support staff playing a crucial role in the reception and preparation of patient samples and requests, to facilitate the provision of a quality and timely diagnostic and monitoring service essential for patient care. To supervise other staff in reception and provide training and support.

We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
