**_What we do_**
Our Child and Family services are a small team of Applied Psychologists who pride ourselves in providing high quality, innovative, meaningful work with children, young people and the systems that support them. At CMCAFS, we aim to support people, organisations and wider systems collaboratively and compassionately through creative psychological practice. We work closely with a range of organisations, at both a regional and national level, to provide quality psychological consultation and support, including children’s charities, Local Authorities, youth justice organisations, fostering and adoption support services, educational settings, and residential care.
We provide specialist psychological services for children, young people, families, and teams and organisations who support them. This involves supporting our partner organisations to provide a range of innovative services which strive to be truly psychologically informed, attachment and trauma-responsive, and meaningfully helpful. We work with senior leaders and practitioners from various services across health, education and social care to incorporate systemic psychological thinking and attachment/trauma-responsive practice into their organisations. We also support organisations to consider how we can measure meaningful outcomes when working with young people in systems that are trying to address a complex range of social, emotional, developmental and mental health needs. As a service, we are keen to work closely with universities and research teams to evaluate what we do, pilot new services, and design new, innovative provisions based upon evidence-informed practice. We also recognise the importance of strengthening connection, reflection and looking after each other when working with young people, families and organisations who may be dealing with the impact of high levels of distress and trauma.
