**The Role & Responsibilities**
Working with the Head of Risk & Governance, the role of a Risk & Governance Officer is to support
- Supporting and implementing risk management processes for the Company, which includes an analysis of the impact on the Company when risks occur.
- Supporting and performing risk assessment: analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the Company.
- Performing a risk evaluation: evaluating the Company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the Company such as financial impact, customer impact and regulatory requirements.
- Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience. Educating the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs’ about the most significant risks to the business; ensuring business heads understand the risks that might affect their departments; ensuring individualsunderstand their own accountability for individual risks.
- Conducting risk reviews, which will include liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting changes to policies and/or key documents, engaging with appropriate stakeholders.
- Overall responsibility for maintaining the Company’s risk and events logs.
- Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support, education and training.
- Support well run corporate governance, board and committee meetings - with agendas agreed, papers collated, produce formal minutes of meetings and manage the production of all associated records and documentation.
- The administration of formal constitutional documentation and records e.g. Terms of reference, attendance records, follow up actions.
- An appropriate knowledge of the commercial, legislative and regulatory framework within which the Company operates.
**The Person**
- Great communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to form effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
- Experience of servicing senior boards and committees and understands good governance.
- Ability to understand broader business issues.
- Communication and presentation skills.
- Analytical skills and an eye for detail.
- Drafting written material to a very high standard - excellent proof-reading skills are essential.
- Commercial awareness.
