**Presenter**

Full Time - 35 hours per week. The role requires working evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. Flexibility is required.

Salary - £28,832 per year.

We are looking to recruit a confident, outgoing individual to join the education team and assist in delivering high quality programmes to schools and the public. The role will include delivering workshops, presenting educational programmes in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium, operating StarDome our portable planetarium, presenting outreach programmes and assisting with day-to-day operations of the Space Centre.

Working with Children - An Enhanced Disclosure is required for this role. Information about the Disclosure service can be found at the Directggov website.

Invited applicants will be asked to conduct two presentations:
1)A recorded clip on a space themed, craft activity this should be no longer than 2 - 3 mins and can be uploaded to Bamboo here if selected for interview

**Role Purpose**:
To present public and schools programmes and support the Education Team in programmes development. To provide an enjoyable and first-class experience for all participants.

**Reporting To**:
Head of Education & Space Communications

**Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities**
- Present educational programmes in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium, work as a Commander within the Mission experience, deliver workshops within the centre.
- Presenting public family talks and busking activities during school holidays.
- Facilitate sleepovers for schools, scouts and guide groups, including staying overnight.
- Assist in the smooth day-to-day operations of each programme (e.g. checking supplies and set-up etc).
- Ensuring optimum customer care is delivered at all times.
- Working as a member of the National Space Centre team in ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, and that the Health and Safety of the visitor, and other employees are not compromised.
- Ensure that programmes are conducted in line with Education Team’s working with children guidelines.
- Undertaking training and development as part of the Personal Development Programme.
- Undertaking any other tasks relevant as may be designated.
- An understanding that these tasks are indicative of the role and are not exhaustive.

**Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications**:

- Experience of working face-to-face with members of the public
- Experience of working with children in an informal or formal learning environment (paid or voluntary)
- Knowledge of child protection practices and procedures
- Interest in astronomy, space science and science in general
- Good communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to prioritise busy and varied workload
- Good IT literacy
- Science degree is desirable
- Educated to degree level or equivalent is desirable

**Working with Children**:

- The successful individual will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Baring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
