**Barista Team Leader/Kitchen Assistant**
- We are looking for a passionate and reliable person to work in a busy, enjoyable environment and be part of a fantastic team.
- Hands on role maily front of house, with kitchen work as required
- Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day so these are guaranteed days off
- No nights or split shifts, but you must have regular weekend availability (at least one weekend day per week or alternate full weekends)
- Closed 12 days in January (some annual leave will be allocated to this period)

We are looking for an experienced barista who can work as a team with the manager to oversee the running of the front of house (particularly on the weekend shifts when we have a larger team), oversee bookings, learn to place orders, assist in the kitchen as required and ensure opening and close-down routines are completed to a high standard.

The Old School Tea Room is a thriving licensed café in the Yorkshire Dales (20 min drive from Skipton, 40 min drive from Harrogate). We have established an excellent reputation over the past 15 years, and pride ourselves on offering delicious fresh food with a friendly service. We also have a great reputation for our ‘Vintage Afternoon Teas’. We have approx. 32 covers inside and a further 50 outside.

**THE ROLE**
- The role will be very hands on, requiring lots of good energy and leading by example. You need to have an eye for detail, be very personable with excellent communication skills, and be prepared to go the extra mile to give customers a great experience
- The role will include front of house and some kitchen work and baking as required, giving good variety and the chance to use and develop lots of different skills.
- Barista/front of house experience is required. Baking experience would be an advantage as ideally we are looking for someone who could freshly bake scones to our recipe on the weekend shift (but we can train you in this)
- You need to be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and be a good team player.
- Daily jobs will also include overseeing opening up and closing down checks are completed, placing orders and overseeing the smooth overall running of the cafe, in conjuction with the manager (eventually taking charge in the absence of the manager on some shifts). On weekend shifts you will be expected to assist in leading the team to complete all the neccessary tasks.
- You need a good knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene, and a strong awareness of allergens.
- You will need experience in a similar fast-paced role, and knowledge of similar till systems would be an advantage.
