This is an exceptional opportunity for a recently graduated finance student wanting to progress towards a career in management accounting, or someone who has previous experience in an accounts role and is seeking a hands-on, varied role. The first few months will involve providing administrative and transactional finance support to the team to enable greater learning of the business, with the role evolving into an Assistant Management Accountant in line with experience. You’ll learn and develop skills enabling you to assist with the timely and accurate delivery of the management accounts, as well as owning the administrative tasks within finance.

In order to be successful for this position, you will need to be enthusiastic and well organised with the desire to progress in an accounting role.

What you'll be doing:

- Supporting the Senior Cost Accountant with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assisting with monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and nominal ledger reconciliations.
- Providing financial analysis to departments across the business.
- Assisting with the year-end accounting and audit processes.
- Supporting the Accounts Payable team with payment run tasks such as checking payment data and actioning supplier payments.
- Owning other administrative tasks within Finance, including expenses, fuel cards, banking and credit card management.
- Completing ad-hoc projects to support the function and drive improvements.

What we're looking for:

- Previous experience isn’t a necessity, as we are happy to look at someone with a finance degree or other relevant qualification who is looking to take their first steps towards a career in accounting.
- Any experience in a relevant role, such as an early stage Accountancy role or a transactional finance role such as Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable, would be advantageous.
- Problem solving skills, able to influence solutions by proposing evidence-based recommendations.
- An analytical and data-driven mindset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to work effectively within a small team and interact with a range of key business stakeholders and colleagues.
- Meticulous, proactive, enthusiastic, and a close eye for detail.
- Good Microsoft Excel knowledge. Experience of advanced features like v-lookups, pivot tables etc would be useful.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work well towards strict targets and deadlines.
