We are looking for an enthusiastic SENCO assistant to support assistant principal for inclusion in the day to day management of SEND and inclusion across the school, both strategic and practical. **About Us** Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane is an Outstanding primary academy and we have high expectations and aspirations for your children. Everyone works hard and behaves well to achieve "exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can think or imagine' **Main Areas of Responsibility** The primary role of the SENCO assistant is to support the day-to-day operational work of the SENCo. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: - Referrals to appropriate agencies and transfer of paperwork for pupils as directed by the SENCo - Managing the logístical aspects of IPP meetings, including inviting parents and liaising with teachers to find appropriate times - Filing of documentation following the Harris federation protocol - Appropriate assessments of pupils identified as having extra need - Support in writing EHC plans as appropriate - Monitoring of the SEN register as appropriate - The development of intervention materials in collaboration with the SENCo - Analysis of data with regard to SEN and more able cohorts - To lead groups and work with individuals to support additional learning needs, as and when required - Monitor the Inclusion action plan and contribute to analysis of it In order to perform this role well, the SENCo is required to: - Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the school’s policies and procedures related to SEND, including the SEND policy and information report, the Accessibility policy and safeguarding policy. - Keep up to date with local and national SEND developments and policies, attending relevant training events when appropriate. - Maintain professionalism and confidentiality. - Support the assistant principal for inclusion by ensuring the child’s best interest is at the heart of all actions and decisions. **Qualifications & Experience** - Experience in relevant discipline - Educated to degree level - Good numeracy/literacy skills - Appropriate knowledge of first aid - Effective use of ICT packages - Attention to detail - Ability to generate systems and procedures for organisation - Ability to work under pressure - Use of relevant equipment/resources - Good keyboard skills - Ability to relate well to children and adults - Work constructively as part of a team, understanding of school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these - The ability to take initiative and work independently - Ability to work as part of a team - Good communication skills - Good organisational and time keeping skills - Good interpersonal skills - Able to work independently and manage own workload - Genuine concern for children’s wellbeing and the willingness to go above and beyond to support children with special educational needs. **Next Steps** **Professional Development & Benefits** Our people are at the heart of our success.
