**Job Purpose**
To provide a range of administrative and support services to an individual, team or business unit. To provide a professional and welcoming first point of contact for all our customers, both internal and external in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Working as part of a multifunctional team to support the School strategies, to ensure all deadlines are met and that the school has a cohesive approach to how to achieve its targets.
3. Assist with the organisation of meetings, events and seminars, including taking bookings, using online booking systems, preparation of materials and arranging travel and accommodation.
4. Prepare documents, presentations and other materials to a clear brief, using established formats and standard software packages.
5. Assisting with purchasing, liaising with the purchasing hub as necessary, and in accordance with University procedures.
6. Prepare straightforward analysis, interpretation and data manipulation.
7. Set short term priorities or work schedules, and working as part of team to ensure operational efficiency.
8. Resolve issues largely without reference to others to provide an effective service and clear advice to colleagues and customers.
9. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the team.
10. Engage in reasonable professional development activities as appropriate.
11. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s strategic plan.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification framework level 5 or 6 (national 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent including English
A2. Up to date knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages. including Word, Excel and Outlook

**Desirable**:

B1. Knowledge of University systems eg Agresso, T4, Ivanti
B2. Knowledge of Eventbrite or other online booking systems
B3. Knowledge and understanding of Higher Education structures, policy, practices and procedures

**Skills**

**Essential**:

C1. Ability to undertake assigned tasks in a timely manner and to a high standard.
C2. Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team, working with others to share workload and complete tasks.
C3. Ability to communicate clearly, clarifying requirements, responding to colleagues, academics and students.
C4. Good written and verbal communication and people skills [tact, diplomacy, discretion, assertiveness and ability to handle difficult customers etc.]
C5. Effective planning, organising and prioritising skills.
C6. Use of initiative and ability to work with mínimal supervision
C7. Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
C8. Excellent attention to detail.
C9. Ability to adapt to new systems.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1. Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role
E2. Experience of working effectively in a team environment.
E3. Experience of multi-tasking, using own initiative and being customer orientated
E4. Experience of providing excellent administrative support.
E5. Experience of financial procedures and processing financial data.

**Desirable**:

F1. Experience of working in a Higher Education setting
F2. Experience of providing support to meetings including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
F3. Experience of event organisation.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 4, £22,681 - £25,138 per annum.
This post is full time (Monday
- Friday, 35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent).
